What types of educational programs are available at Outlets Co-op Neighbourhood House?

We provide regular, pre-accredited adult education courses in computers and mobile devices, job preparation, English language, sewing and more. We also offer a range of skills and leisure programs based on community interest. View our current programs or suggest an idea for a class, group or project today!

Are you an approved childcare provider, and can I access the Child Care Subsidy (CCS) at this centre?

Yes, we are a licensed childcare provider and service offering permanent and flexible bookings for either 5-hour or 3-hour sessions on Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Fridays during Victorian school terms. We are Child Care Subsidy (CCS) approved, meaning you can access government-subsidised childcare at our centre.

What kind of emergency relief resources does Outlets Co-op Neighbourhood House offer?

We offer food relief (fresh produce and pantry items, subject to availability) on Wednesdays during school terms, from 10:30 amโ€“12:30 pm. All in need are welcome. We also provide support through information and referrals.

Can community members volunteer at Outlets Co-op Neighbourhood House?

Yes, we encourage local participation through volunteering โ€“ share your skills with our community while learning new skills and making connections. View our opportunities here.

Outlets Co-op Neighbourhood House (a.k.a. Newport Community Education Centre) is a vibrant, not-for-profit, community-run organisation located in the heart of Newport. Established in 1973, weโ€™ve recently celebrated 50 years of being a local centre of social connection and support, neighbourhood information, education, community development and social services.

Offering a range of skill and recreational courses and activities, flexible childcare and various community and social support programs, we serve as a holistic hub for personal growth and community welfare. We pride ourselves on being an inclusive space where all community members are welcome. Drop in and visit us, we look forward to meeting you!

We stood together with friends from Louis Joel Arts & Community @louisjoelartscommunity and Walker Close Community Centre Walker Close Community Centre, our incredible volunteers, and supported by Hobsons Bay City Council staff, Network West, and neighbourhood houses from across our area.Together, we had the opportunity to present signed Keep Our Doors Open postcards directly to Melissa Horne MP, who will hand-deliver them to Ros Spence MP.These postcards carry real voices, real stories, and a clear message: Neighbourhood houses matter!
