Volunteering to support the community in Newport

We invite you to become more involved in your local community by volunteering at Outlets Co-op Neighbourhood House. Share your skills with the Newport community while accessing training, learning new skills, meeting people, building networks and welcoming new opportunities. Community members looking to contribute can volunteer in the various existing roles below.

House Committee Member

Outlets Co-op Neighbourhood House is overseen by a volunteer board of committee members whose input shapes the services we offer to our local community. We are always looking to welcome new house committee members to our team with unique skills, experiences, perspectives and networks.

By joining our members, you benefit from networking and learning opportunities while giving back to your community.
We invite you to contribute to the planning and running of our neighbourhood house by becoming a house committee member. The time commitment involved is minimal and dependent on what you can and want to offer.

Childcare Assistant

Assist our educators in providing a nurturing and engaging environment for young children. Help with activities, ensure the children’s safety, and offer attentive care.

Reception & House Support

Assist with administrative tasks and support the smooth operation of our services, programs and events.

Marketing & Promotion

Help us spread the word about our programs and events, engage with the community, and enhance our online and offline presence.

Community Support

Provide essential support to our staff in delivering community support services (roles/tasks vary based on skills, experience and interests).

Emergency Relief Assistant

Provide support to individuals and families facing food insecurity. Your efforts will include preparing and distributing food parcels, offering a friendly presence, and ensuring our community members receive the help they need.

Gardening / House Maintenance

Help keep our house and garden spaces beautiful and functional through general gardening, light repairs and maintenance to ensure a welcoming and safe environment for all.

For further information about these roles and to obtain a volunteer application form, please see our Volunteer Handbook here. We welcome enquiries in person and via phone or email.

Note: All volunteers must hold a valid National Police Check and, for childcare work, a valid Working with Children Check (WWCC). We can assist you with obtaining these documents.
